This course is offered within the framework of the Sudan-Norway Academic Cooperation (SNAC) project.
It will equip attendants with a systematic understanding of a wide range of ethical issues faced by investigators dealing with human subjects in their research.
In compliance with international guidelines and national regulations that govern human subjects in research, it is recommended that investigators conducting human subjects research should have training in research ethics. This course is intended to provide a foundation for investigators conducting human subject research.
The course is divided into 10 modules covering the major research ethics topics. Each module includes educational videos that can be viewed anytime and cases for discussions/reflection. The course is planned for 10 days full time study – combination of video lectures, on-line discussions based on concrete cases, and self-study using a training manual that will be provided and the recommended literature.
A certificate of completion will be issued once the candidates completed the modules. They have the option to take a test consisting of 40 best-answer questions. Two attempts will be allowed. The certificate is issued if 80% of a 40 items on-line test are correct.
